Description
I created this wall hanging from 2 discs of ash and one disc of recycled mahogany. I cut each disc into quarters and then reassembled them into patterns until I eventually decided on the finished design.
I routed a 2.5cm cove through the half way point in each disk and then routed a pattern using the Naguri method. (The Naguri method is a traditional Japanese woodworking technique that involves carving textured, scalloped, or undulating patterns into wood surfaces using a router and a specialised jig to replicate this deeply textured, dimensional finish mechanically).
It is stained blue with spirit stain, then I sanded the ridges back to bare wood and coloured them with intrinsic red water stain.
Finish: Woodoc Satin.
